What will I be doing?  ‍‍👩‍💻👨‍💻

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team while delivering meaningful product outcomes that drive value for our customers and business. You will play a critical role in shaping how we build, scale, and operate our technology platform, working closely with Product and Technical leadership to ensure we deliver with quality, speed, and confidence.

This role combines people leadership, delivery ownership, and technical stewardship. You’ll create an environment where engineers can thrive, continuously improve how we work, and ensure our platform remains scalable, reliable, and fit for the future as Bridebook continues to grow globally.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing a high-performing engineering team: Providing coaching, mentorship, and clear expectations to support career growth, engagement, and retention while fostering a collaborative, psychologically safe team culture.

• Driving predictable, valuable delivery: Partnering closely with Product to plan and prioritise work, ensuring initiatives are well-scoped and delivered in small, valuable increments that balance speed with long-term quality.

• Owning team processes and continuous improvement: Establishing and evolving delivery rituals, engineering practices, and feedback loops that improve throughput, reliability, and team effectiveness over time.

• Raising engineering quality and operational excellence: Setting standards across testing, code review, CI/CD, and release management while coaching engineers to strengthen technical practices and reduce repeat issues.

• Supporting platform architecture and scalability: Collaborating with the Technical Architect to guide technical decisions, manage technical debt, and evolve our platform across our stack (Typescript, React, NextJS, AWS, GCS, Firebase/Firestore).

• Aligning stakeholders and communicating clearly: Translating technology priorities into clear trade-offs and plans, ensuring leadership understands the state of engineering and is aligned on key decisions and investments.

We’re looking for someone who: 🧠💚

• Has strong experience leading and developing software engineers, ideally within a fast-paced product or startup/scale-up environment.

• Demonstrates excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, and creating high-engagement team cultures.

• Has a proven track record of delivering complex software projects in collaboration with Product teams, balancing delivery speed with technical quality.

• Brings solid technical credibility, with experience working across modern web technologies and cloud platforms, and the ability to contribute to architectural discussions.

• Understands and applies modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and iterative delivery.

• Is highly collaborative and able to influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams, including senior leadership.

• Is pragmatic and outcome-focused, capable of making thoughtful trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term sustainability.

• Communicates clearly and confidently, particularly when navigating ambiguity, incidents, or complex decisions.
